Blinds and Shutters – Always Expect The Unexpected

merbear-joy-of-blinds-and-shutters

For many people ‘peace of mind’ depends completely on having total control over your life.  If this is not possible, this can lead to confusion, frustration and stress.  It helps to always expect the unexpected.  Below are two examples of coming across the unexpected from the world of Blinds and Shutters.

Blinds and Shutters – Always Expect The Unexpected

Most people have come across the phrase “Don’t leave anything to chance.”  Regardless of how efficient you are running your home, work, business, family, etc., and however much you plan in advance, the unexpected can happen at any time often causing anxiety, stress and much more.

However, if you always expect the unexpected, you achieve much greater peace of mind than hoping for complete control in life.  Of course you cannot foresee every single thing that might crop up, but if you can let go of needing certainty in life, you can enjoy a more peaceful state of mind.  Expect to be thrown ‘off course’ every so often.

Two examples from the Blinds and Shutters world

I was taking some measurements for window shutters and roof blinds in a conservatory and noticed a dog-basket in a corner of the room.  Curled up asleep inside appeared to be a larger than normal and very hairy animal.  I must have woken it as I was measuring the roof panels over its head.

No amount of prior planning could have prepared me for the shock.  I realised that I was invading the living space of a baby llama.  Only then did my client mention that the conservatory was the home of this rather unusual pet of theirs.

Another time I was in a bedroom to advise on some colourful black-out blinds that needed replacing.  “Don’t mind Pinky and Perky” they said.  “They live under the bed and won’t get in your way.”

My immediate thought was that they were a couple of pink-coloured hamsters perhaps.  Imagine my surprise when they crawled slowly out from under the bed…one following the other.  They were two very large iguanas.

(By the way, the photo is of a Merbear – half mermaid and half bear.  I have not seen one of those yet!)

Blinds and Shutters – Always Expect The Unexpected – Summary

So no matter how much you think you have prepared for something, nothing can prepare you for coming face to face with situations you never expected.  The unexpected can definitely occur at any time.  Plan as much as you can but always keep in mind that anything can happen along the way.
